Mahbubnagar: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of ignoring the problems faced by farmers in the State. While addressing a press meet in Nagarkurnool TPCC chief said the Chief Minister is playing gimmicks with farmers with a motive to keep them engaged till the next elections.

While referring to Chief Minister’s recent announcement of depositing Rs 4000 per acres into the bank accounts of farmers for buying fertilisers and pesticides, the TPCC chief said, “while the chilli farmers are burning down their crop due to lack of minimum support price and are agitating against the government’s misrule, the government is putting them in jail and is treating them like criminals.”

Uttam further said the Chief Minister is ignoring the current burning issue of farmers and is announcing schemes, which is a ploy to divert the attention of the farmers from the present turmoil of agrarian crises in the State. “Instead of announcing future schemes, why can’t the government come forward and buy the excess produce by the farmers at MSP and protect their interests.

This is only to divert the attention of farmers and keep them engaged for the next elections,” Uttam Kumar said. The TPCC chief further said the people are observing the undemocratic attitude of the government and will very soon teach a lesson to the TRS party in the next elections. He said if Congress comes to power in 2019 each farmer will get Rs 2 lakh farm loan waiver.
