Minister orders transfer of Nagarkurnool DRDO for his negligence in implementing the scheme
Hyderabad: Minister for Panchayat Raj Jupally Krishna Rao, on Thursday, expressed satisfaction over the implementation of works relating to National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) worth Rs 800 cr in districts.
During a video conference from Secretariat, the minister discussed on the progress of works of the scheme with the district officials and appreciated them for achieving the target.
The details of the works done and payments made should be uploaded in the website for transparency, he said.
The scheme, which is aimed to provide employment to workers, should be continued with the same pace, the minister said.
Krishna Rao appreciated the officials for providing 100 working days for more than 25 per cent of workers under the scheme in two months. However, he also cautioned the officials that dereliction and negligence in implementing the scheme will be dealt with seriously. He gave directions for transfer of DRDO of Nagarkurnool district for not serious on the scheme.
Since the monsoon season has begun, the officials should see that regular sanitation drive should be conducted in the villages to avoid spread of contagious diseases.
Construction works of toilets in schools and individual toilets should be speeded up and priority should be given in construction of cemeteries, rain water pits and production of compost, he said.
Rao said that so far Rs 800 cr works were completed this year while Rs 515 cr works completed during April and May last year. He appreciated the officials for completion of 34 per cent works in Kamareddy and 32.7 per cent in Vikarabad.
However, he expressed displeasure at the slow pace of works in Medchal, Karimnagar and Mahbubnagar districts. Some officials in districts are not changing their attitude for the implementation scheme, he said expressing his unhappiness.
The minister said that regular update of works online be made. The officials have to appoint additional staff to make timely payment of salaries. He pulled up officials for taking revival of only 6,518 lakes against permission given to 21,505 lakes by Irrigation Department . He asked the officials to take up the remaining works immediately.
He also directed the officials to speed up sanctioned works; and said that only 32,000 toilets were built against 5.26 lakhs toilets. ``We have delivered 19,000 rickshaws to shift garbage in the districts during rainy season,’’ he said and asked the officials to prepare action plan for third phase of Harithaharam programme to begin in July.
