Describing Dr C Narayana Reddy as a jewel in the literary crown, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said the government would construct a befitting memorial in the heart of the city with a museum and a meeting hall for literary activities.
The Chief Minister who visited the Jnanpith awardee’s house to pay homage told the media that a prominent institution or a university would be named after the great poet. He also said bronze statues of Dr C Narayana Reddy, popularly known as ‘Cinare’, will be installed on Tank Bund in Hyderabad, at Karimnagar, at Siricilla district headquarters and at his native village Hanmajipet. Similarly, Saraswatha Parishad whom he loved the most will be supported by the government.
KCR said all measures have been taken to give a befitting tribute to Cinare. The CM said he himself would participate and wanted all the literary figures to participate in the final journey of Dr Narayana Reddy.”
The TSRTC, he said, would operate about 100 special buses from all districts to enable the poet’s followers to participate in the final rites to be held at Maha Prasthanam in Filmnagar in Hyderabad.
Recalling his association with Cinare, the Chief Minister said, "Dr Narayan Reddy was one personality that the Telangana state is proud of. I am conveying my sorrow and pain at the demise of Dr Narayan Reddy.
He was one literary figure who scaled many heights. There are many writers and poets, but Cinare’s meeting has always been a different one. His words had a glamour and he proved that even poets too have a glamour.
Though he was born in Telangana, the entire Telugu population is proud of him. He was the one and only who taught movements to Rhyme and Alliteration. There is nobody who can compete with him.”
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Telangana Sahitya Academy Chairman Nandini Sidha Reddy and Cultural Affairs Director Mamidi Harikrishna accompanied the CM.
For the view of general public, the mortal remains of Dr Narayan Reddy will be placed for an hour from 9am to 10am at Saraswatha Parishad Hall in Boggulakunta. Later, they will be taken out in rally from Saraswatha Parishad Hall to Maha Prasthanam.
