Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has claimed that Muslim community in Telangana State was on the path of growth and development under his government.

Speaking after flagging off 4th batch of Haj pilgrims at Haj House on Tuesday, the Chief Minister gave a brief account of various schemes being implemented by the State Government for the welfare of Muslim community. Stating that Muslims too were beneficiaries of economic growth in the State, he said that the community was witnessing development in education, economic and social sectors. With the present growth rate of over 21%, he said Telangana's annual budget was likely to touch Rs. 5 lakh crore by 2024 and the spending on minorities welfare would increase to Rs. 12,000 crore per annum.

The Chief Minister appealed the Haj pilgrims to pray for peace and development in the country, especially Telangana, during their holy pilgrimage. He said it was due to the efforts of State Government nearly 1300 pilgrims were getting free accommodation in Nizam's Rubats in the holy city of Mecca. He said his government would try to restore properties of Nizam in other countries too.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Wakf Board Chairman Mohammed Saleem, MLCs Md Fareeduddin and Farooq Hussain, Nampally MLA Jaffer Hussain Meraj, GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan Reddy, Advisor to TS Govt A.K. Khan, Minorities Welfare Dept Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel, Telangana Haj Committee Special Officer Prof. S.A. Shukoor and other senior officials were also present.
