Bhupalpally: Chityal police in Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district, in a humanitarian gesture, have come to the rescue of a Maoist activist’s daughter who discontinued her education due to poor financial conditions.

After completing sixth standard, the girl R Ramya, the daughter of Maoist Routhu Vijender, has been staying with grandmother at Challagarige village in Chityal mandal. The local Circle Inspector Gandrati Mohan, who learnt about her plight and her desire to continue her studies, decided to fulfil her dream.

The CI has on Friday admitted the girl into Seventh Class at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Tekumatla mandal headquarters after buying her books and bag. He also offered to look after the wellbeing of the girl and bear all the expenses on her education.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohan said he took the responsibility of helping the girl to continue her studies following the directions of the Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran to help the Maoist families that were under distress.

Routh Vijayender has been working for the Maoist party for the past 17 years and is currently working as the divisional committee member of the Dandakaranya Special Zone. His father died recently and his elderly mother has fallen sick.

As a result, there was none to take care of Ramya; that is why the police came forward to help her, he added. The SP Bhaskaran called upon the Maoists to give up arms and join the mainstream life by availing the assistance offered by government to surrendered Maoists.

The villagers expressed pleasure over the Chityal police’ humanitarian gesture in helping the girl.
