Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday instructed the officials to give top priority to drinking water in the utilisation of river waters, even as minimum drawdown levels (MDDL) should be maintained at all the reservoirs and irrigation projects.

Reviewing the arrangements made for the supply of water to Mission Bhagiratha programme with Irrigation and Mission Bhagiratha officials here, the Chief Minister said the government had allocated 10 per cent of water for drinking water purpose in all irrigation projects, including those upcoming ones.

Once Kaleswaram project and others are ready, the State would get more water. He asked the officials to prepare a permanent plan after the completion of Kaleswaram, Palamuru, and Sita Rama Projects. He said the people in the villages would get river water by end of this year.

He directed the officials to appoint a special officer from Mission Bhagiratha to coordinate with the Irrigation authorities.
Government’s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary S P Singh, Special Chief Secretary S K Joshi and others were also present .
