Hyderabad: TRS, which is planning to play an important role in national politics, would remain independent till the next elections.

“Depending on the poll results in 2019, TRS would play an important role in the coalition government at the Centre,” said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. However, he declined to divulge any details.

The Chief Minister had also put an end to the speculation that his daughter and MP K Kavitha would be inducted in the Union cabinet. He clarified that his party would not seek any ministerial berths in Prime minister Narendra Modi’s government during the present term.

Referring to the Centre’s appeal to all state governments to reduce VAT on fuels to reduce petrol and diesel prices, the Chief Minister said it is left to the wisdom of the state governments.

“Let the BJP-ruled states take a decision first,” he said. KCR said GST has been introduced in the country on an experimental basis.

He would not come to a conclusion whether the GST was a failure or success at this juncture.

It would take some more time to ascertain the impact of GST on state and central economy. To a query, the CM said he would not respond on ‘one nation one election’ unless things are clear.

The issue is likely to be discussed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Hyderabad in November.
