Hyderabad: The CPI Telangana committee demanded the State government to call an all-party meeting, to discuss on the newly proposed zonal system.

In a press release here on Sunday, the party state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said that earlier, at a time when the State had decided to reorganise the districts, political parties, civil society organisations and intellectuals had sought the government to increase the number of zones.

However, without consulting others, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had scrapped the zonal system unilaterally. But, taking a U-turn now, the CM is taking unilateral decision on increasing the number of zones, he said.

Stressing the issue as a sensitive one, Venkat Reddy demanded the State government should take necessary precautions. Unilateral decisions will have an adverse effect on the students and unemployed, he said.

The CPI secretary has stated that the erstwhile 10 districts of the State had been reorganised into 31 districts without any scientific base. Reiterating his party’s demand, Venkata Reddy demanded the government to create five new zones: Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar-Medak-Sangareddy, Nalgonda and Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad-Nizamabad.
