TDP men in a fix as speculations about Revanth Reddy fly thick & fast
With the speculations of Telugu Desam Party working president Revanth Reddy joining Congress flying thick and fast, the leaders of TTDP are in a fix about their political future. Further, the party will receive a major blow if Reddy switches loyalties to the grand old party, that too ahead of general polls, which are just a year-and-a-half away.
Warangal/Khammam/Karimnagar: With the speculations of Telugu Desam Party working president Revanth Reddy joining Congress flying thick and fast, the leaders of TTDP are in a fix about their political future. Further, the party will receive a major blow if Reddy switches loyalties to the grand old party, that too ahead of general polls, which are just a year-and-a-half away.
It may be recalled that with the growing emergence and popularity of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), both TDP and Congress lost their stand in Telangana. Both the parties lack the power of a strong opposition. To gain the lost glory and strength, the Congress is trying to induct dynamic leaders from other parties.
A senior leader from the Revanth faction, on condition of anonymity, told that around more than 50 per cent of leaders and cadre are with Revanth and would make their next move based on his decision.
Meanwhile, a recent survey by Bengaluru-based ‘Political Quotient’ published that Revanth was the second most preferred person as the next Chief Minister of Telangana. According to sources, a section of TDP leaders who are close to Revanth expressed their willingness to join Congress. “In its three years of rule, the TRS garnered negative feedback of people for its many failures.
This will prove advantageous for Congress party which is trying to build itself,” said a political analyst.
He also added that, “Revanth joining the Congress will be a boon to the party both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as Revanth can easily take on TRS and YSRCP even without sparing the leaders of his parent party too.” Meanwhile, several former Ministers like V Hanumantha Rao, D Sreedhar Babu and the senior leader Renuka Chowdhary have openly welcomed Revanth into the party.
