Hyderabad : Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has asked the Scheduled Tribes public representatives to suggest schemes, programmes and measures to be taken for the STs, as the state government is committed for the STs Development. The CM gave call to the STs to be united and benefit from the programmes and schemes implemented by the government and unitedly help the government to eradicate poverty among the STs.
The Chief Minister held meeting with the ST public representatives here on Friday at Pragati Bhavan. Special Chief Secretary BR Meena, Principal Secretaries Mahesh Dutt Ekka, Shanta Kumari, MPs Sitaram Naik, Nagesh, MLAs D Redynaik, Ravindra Kumar, Rekha Naik, Kova Laxmi, Baburao, Madan Lal, Koram Kanakaiah, Payam Venkateshwarlu, Tati Venkateshwarlu, Sankar Naik, MLC Ramulu Naik, Girijan Corporation Chairman Gandhi Naik, MPs Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Boora Narsaiah Goud, Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, former MP Ramesh Rathod, MLAs Satyavathi Rathod, Maloth Kavitha, ST Welfare Commissioner Laxman and others participated.
“There are 30 Lakh STs in the Telangana state out which a majority of them are in poverty. They are living in the remote agency areas and at far off places and are suffering with lot of problems. This government is committed for their development and welfare. The government has accepted their long pending demand for the transformation of their habitations into Gram Panchayats. A Special Development Fund is brought in for the STs. Residential educational institutions are set up for them to impart better education. The government is also implementing several other programmes. Due to the reorganisation of districts into small areas, focus is being put on the GirijanThands, hamlets and other habitations of the STs. The STs should realise the commitment of the government. Be united and try to eradicate poverty among the STs with the government programmes and schemes. The government is ready to solve if any other problems of the STs. Bring to the notice of the government if there are any issues,” the CM said.
“STs have some other problems. There is no three phase power in some ST habitations, some have no power supply at all, some habitations have no road link, there are problems in recognizing ROFR Pattas, there are also problems in extending government’s assistance to those in Shifting cultivation and the tribals are facing problems as there were some issues regarding the forest and revenue lands. There are problems in the implementation of 1/70 Act. There are also issues regarding the ST certification and consent from the Banks became a problem regarding the ST self-employment loans. Due to this schemes are being grounded. At some places bills are to be paid for the Indiramma houses. The government will take a decision on all these issues and find permanent solution. The ST public representatives should suggest to the government on what the problems of the STs, what else can be done for their development, what are the new schemes to be implemented. Let us all work to bring in change for better among the STs and not for the sake of votes,” the CM said.
The Chief Minister wanted the ST public representatives to have meeting on Saturday Morning and meet him with concrete proposals in the afternoon. On Saturday afternoon, KCR has decided to have one more meeting with the ST representatives and get clarity on the measures to be taken.
