Hyderabad: Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Bandaru Dattatreya sought the intervention of Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in the release of two music teachers in the custody of the Malaysian police following their employer’s false allegations against them.

In a letter written to Sushma Swaraj on Saturday, he said that Komallapalli Subramanyam and Venkatapuram Sridhar from the city had been given a job offer to work as music specialist and trainer at the Sangeetha Swara Laya SDN BHD, an Indian Music Academy. The duo was offered RM 5,500 per month by the academy’s director Dr Hariharan Subramaniyam.

However, once the two landed in Malaysia the salary was reduced to RM 1,800. Besides, they were forced to work under inhuman conductions, besides a forced travel of about 300 km to and from their place of stay on daily basis. When the Indians had expressed their inability to continue, they were framed in false charges of theft resulting in their arrest by the Malaysian police, Dattatreya said.

The issue had been brought to the notice of officials concerned at the Indian Mission in Malaysia and requested the External Affairs Minister to take urgent measures to get them released and back to the country.
