Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao will embark on ‘Project Nidra’ from January 2018 to ensure that the completion of ongoing major and medium projects is finished on time. Taking cue from his visit to Kaleshwaram project site, which concluded on Monday, the Minister decided to review all the project sites and review the progress of works.

Following the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Harish Rao took up the inspection works of Kaleshwaram project every fortnight and enquired about the hurdles hindering the execution of project works. Accompanied by a team of officials, the Irrigation Minister had undertaken a thorough inspection of the vital structures in construction, as part of Rs 80,500 crore Kaleshwaram project.

Harish Rao was at the Sundilla barrage site till 3:00 am on Tuesday morning. He will also camp for three days at the work sites of the key barrages and pump houses, which are scheduled to be completed by June 2018.

Officials said Harish will visit all the ongoing project sites and hold review meetings on the status of the works during the next six months.

He will spend the nights at the site to supervise the works and will check if they are being taken up round the clock for speedy completion. Government had prepared an action plan for the completion of every project including reservoirs in a time bound manner. Apart from Kaleshwaram, Dindi project, Sitarama lift irrigation project, Rollavagu tank, Sadarmatt barrage, Jawahar –Nettempadu lift irrigation scheme and Indiramma flood flow canal from SRSP, and Mallannasagar have been taken up on priority basis. The Irrigation Department targets to complete all the projects by 2018 end.

The Minister will conduct field visits, stay at project sites and discuss the issues that needs to be addressed with the officials including Revenue and Energy Departments. He will set targets and deadlines to every official for the completion of the works.
