Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Saturday laid foundation stone for double bedroom houses at Old Maredpally, Gandhinagar and Sriramnagar under Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Minister for Animal Husbandry T Srinivas Yadav, MP Malla Reddy, MLA G Sayanna, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and other officials participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, KTR said that a target was set to build one lakh double bedroom houses in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and hand them over to beneficiaries. Out of one lakh houses, a total of 87,000 houses are already under constructions in different parts of the twin cities.
The Minister said the government was building double bedroom houses for sake of the poor. The government had not been taking contribution from the beneficiaries. The government was spending Rs 8.70 lakh on each house and the market value of each house would go up to Rs 30-40 lakh after completion, he said.
Rama Rao appealed to the people to cooperate with the government in constructing the double bedroom houses. He assured the people in Bhojagutta area that problems in the area would be solved soon. The government, he said, was working for the benefit of the poor to make the Hyderabad slum-free city and there were around 2,000 slums in the city and if the residents came forward, the government would take up the construction of double bedroom houses on top priority.
