Jagtial: District Collector Dr A Sharath ordered the officials to take steps for conducting the second phase pulse polio programme, to be held from March 11 to 13, successfully in the district.

He held a meeting with the officials on the arrangements to be made for pulse polio programme, here at Collectorate on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the children below the age group of five years must be vaccinated at pulse polio centre on Sunday. Pulse polio drops will be administered to the children from March 11 to 13 at their houses.
As per 2017-18 census, the population of the district is about 10,45,512, out of which there are 10,628 children aged below five years.

A total of 710 centres - 608 polio centres in rural areas and 102 centres in city – were set up. 17 mobile centres in villages and three in cities also pressed into work to administer polio drops to the children.

About 2,840 staff were appointed for making the programme successful. Four members were allotted to each centre. About 12 transist teams were appointed at bus and railway stations.

The Collector ordered the officials to start the programme from 7 am to 6 pm. Metpalli Sub-Collector Goutham Potru, in-charge district medical officer Dr Jaipal Reddy and other medical officers attended the meeting.
