Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) Vice Chancellor Prof A Venugopal Reddy said the VII convocation of the University will be held at 3:00 PM on May 9 at JN Auditorium in the campus.
​Hyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) Vice Chancellor Prof A Venugopal Reddy said the VII convocation of the University will be held at 3:00 PM on May 9 at JN Auditorium in the campus.
Addressing media here on Monday, he said during the convocation a total of 82,486 under graduate, post graduate and Ph D degrees and 64 gold medals will be awarded for the academic year 2016-17.
Governor of two Telugu States and Chancellor of JNTU-H, E S L Narasimhan will preside over the convocation. Dr V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT, Delhi will deliver the convocation address. The degree of Doctorate of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) will be conferred on him during the event, he said.
Prof Venugopal Reddy said that the JNTU-H had completed nine years of its journey and it was accredited with an 'A-Grade’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the year 2017 and it was ranked 42nd in the engineering stream of NIRF Rankings-2018.
He said that majority of UG and PG programmes offered by the University have been accredited by NBA, UGC Autonomous status had been granted to the constituent colleges, units, and 24 affiliated colleges. Also, 19 affiliated colleges are also accredited by NAAC and 37 affiliated colleges are accredited by NBA, he said.
Keeping in view the emerging technologies, the University launched a new programme in M Tech with a specialisation in Cyber Forensics and Information Security.
The Vice Chancellor said the University is also actively involved in collaborative programmes. It had signed MOU with International and National Academic Institutions and industries for mutual cooperation in a number of areas, such as Research and Development and offering Dual Degree Programmes.
As part of this, MoUs have been signed with Carnegie Mellon University, Central Michigan University and the University of Massachusetts, all from the USA. Similarly, JNTU-H had also signed MoUs with reputed institutions from other parts of the Globe like Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok and Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden, he said. Likewise, MoUs have also been signed with reputed, government, private, and research and industrial organisations at the national level.
The JNTU-H had also been identified as a mentor university to four technological universities. They include Assam State Technological University, Assam, Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, Rajasthan, RGPV, Bhopal and Swamy Vivekananda Chhattisgarh Technical University.
The university took up construction work of several buildings to meet the demand for new departments, new courses, and hostels. To introduce the latest developments in the curriculum many new labs were established with the latest equipment during the year 2017-18.
