Hyderabad : Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao stressed on the need to encourage 100% electric vehicles usage to make Hyderabad city as pollution free city.

The Chief Minister said that phase wise usage of 100% electric vehicles will be introduced in GHMC and TSRTC as well as private institutions will also be encouraged to use them.

Representatives from China of BYD (Build Your Dreams) auto Industries Company Limited, which produces 100% electric vehicles of all types, called on Chief Minister KCR in Pragathi Bhavan on Wednesday. They told CM that they intend to establish their factory and production unit in Hyderabad to manufacture 100% electric vehicles which run on Battery. CM express his happiness over this and said that the Government would extend all the help required by the. CM said that day by day the pollution due to vehicles is on the increase in towns and cities. The only way to control and reduce this is the usage of electric vehicles, said the CM.

The Chief Minister also told them that in Telangana the usage of 100% electric vehicles will be taken up and in the first phase government will place order for purchase of 500 vehicles. He further said that there is lot of potential all over the country for usage of electric vehicles.

Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, CMP Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao, TSRTC MD Ramana Rao, BYD General Manager Liu Xueliang, Executive Director Zhang Jie and others participated in the meeting.

The Chief Minister had a brief journey in the electric bus designed and developed by BYD and appreciated them. He complemented the BYD representatives that the quality and standards of the bus are excellent and said that it is highly convenient for a comfortable journey as well as for a pollution free atmosphere.

The BYD representative told CM that if once charged the vehicles will be able to move for 300-400 kilometres and within three hours they can be completely charged. They informed the Chief Minister that along with buses they also manufacture cars, autos and trucks.
