Hyderabad: Former Minister Danam Nagender, who resigned from the Congress party on Friday, alleged that the party was dominating by one community (Reddy) and the other communities, particularly Backward Classes had been neglected in the party.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Nagender said former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh responded immediately when he complained that officers of one community were getting promotions in the Police Department. Not only in the government, YSR also gave equal opportunities to all communities in the party during his regime.

After his tragic death, the Congress had come under the domination by a particular community. The other communities got a raw deal in the party and the Congress leadership also failed to provide a platform for the promotion of Backward Classes leaders.

Senior leaders D Srinivas and K Keshav Rao left the party as they were humiliated in the Congress, he said even former PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah was also not getting due importance in the party and alleged that the party leaders did not even inform Laxmaiah about the meeting held at Warangal city.

Nagender said he had informed the same to AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi six months ago. Rahul Gandhi asked TPCC to submit a report in this regard. He came down heavily on TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy for his unilateral decisions and neglecting senior leaders in the functioning of the party at State level.
