Nalgonda: Backward Classes Sankshema Sangam district unit President Dudimetla Sathaiah Yadav here on Tuesday accused the government of trying to undercount the population of the Backward Classes.

Addressing the protesters who staged a sit-in in front of the District Collectorate, Sathaiah said the government was not ensuring transparency in enumerating population of Backward Classes in the State. The government at one stage had announced that Backward Classes accounted for 52 per cent of total population in the State.

He questioned the State government over issuing GO which provided 34 per cent reservation instead of 54 per cent population in Gram Panchayath elections He demanded that government conduct Sarpanch elections after raising BC reservations from 34 per cent to 54 per cent in Gram Panchayath elections and fill the vacant posts in BC Welfare Department.

Later leaders of BC Sankshema Sangam submitted a memorandum to District Collector Gaurav Uppal. Sangam district General Secretary Duduku Laxmi Naryana , leaders Mekala Venkanna , Janardhan Goud, Mamidi Padma, Pallapu Bixapathi, TDP leaders Madagoni Srinivas Goud, Akunuri Satyanaryana ,Gundu Venkateshwarlu, and others participated in the programme.
