Mahbubnagar: Hitting back hard at the recent DK Aruna’s claim that it was Congress that had laid foundation stone for the Gattu Lift Irrigation project, the TRS leaders challenged the Gadwal MLA that the TRS leaders would resign from their posts and permanently shun politics if she showed the Government Order (GO) copies regarding the Gattu Lift Irrigation project (GLIP) issued by the then Congress government or else they asked her to support the TRS party if she failed to do so.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy, Harish Rao Minister for Major Irrigaiton and Ala Venkateshwar Reddy, MLA Devarkadra said that the congress party leaders fooled the people of Gadwal right from the beginning and tried to gain publicity only during elections by false promises.

They said that without releasing a government order how D.K. Aruna can lay foundation stone for GLIP. It is against the law. They only played election tactic to fool the people and tried to win their votes, observed the leaders.

Later Harish Rao visited Gattu mandal and inspected the place for GLIP Pylon and proposed area where Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to take part in Mass Meeting on June 29 this month.

The Irrigation Minister along with Manda Jagannadam, official representative of Telangana in New Delhi, Devarkadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy and Gadwal constituency incharge Krishna Mohan Reddy visited Gattu and inspected the works in progress for the upcoming grand meeting of Chief Minister.

The Irrigaiton Miniter said that in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the then rulers ignored the development of Gattu region and turned this region into a desert. However, after formation of Telangana, the TRS party resolved to make Gattu the next Konaseema of Telangana by providing water to 28,000 acres directly and 8000 acres indirectly.

“The Congress party and their selfish leaders misled the people of Gadwal during the past 70 years and have been the cause of backwardness of area in all aspects. With GLIP project, the TRS government is committed to bring a complete change of the Gattu region and will turn this desert area into a green belt in next two years,” said Harish Rao.

While inspecting the area for meeting, Harish Rao advised the organisers that the public meeting place is very small and asked them to shift the place to some other open area to accommodate more people. Later, Harish also visited Alampur constituency and inspected the ongoing works on the Tummilla project in the district.
