Nagarkurnool: You might have seen a crowd of youth competing with each other to grab the job opportunities at a job mela but here at the Mega Job Mela held at Kollapur mandal in Nagarkurnool district the situation was totally different. There were more jobs up for grab but fewer were the takers.

More than 55 companies took part in the Mega Job Mela and offered 9,800 vacancies to 4,000 unemployed youth attended the event on Thursday. Jupally Krishna Rao, Minister for Rural development and Panchayat Raj inaugurated the job mela and motivated the youth to utilise the employment opportunity and brightened their careers and improve their lively hood.

The Mega Job Mela was organised by the Mission for Urban Poverty Elimination in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) at EGMM Gardens function hall in Kollapur. While taking part as the chief guest for the Job Mela, Jupally Krishna Rao gave a call to the youth to be proactive and advised them not to waste time as it is very precious.

He said, “time is precious and particularly youth must realise this and make out maximum out of whatever time they have and utilise every opportunity that they come across in their lives to become success in life.” The minister said that youth must change their mind set and inculcate positive attitude only then they can achieve success in their lives.

Stressing that positive attitude will help increase the self confidence in youth, the minister said apart from positive attitude students and particularly youth must improve their communication and other technical skills which will further boost their confidence levels and can excel in whatever job they enter into.

While enumerating the State government’s efforts to make sure that maximum youth get placed both in government and private sectors, the minister said the government is releasing various job notifications and at the same time roping in private firms to recruit youth from rural background into their companies and provide employment opportunities in the State.

The minister expressed concern that last year even though more than 1,200 were placed in various companies in a similar job mela in Kollapur in 2016, only 180 people are working at present and remaining have left their jobs citing various reasons.

“Youth must learn to work hard with sincerity. No matter if the salary is less and if you are living far away from your family, one should grab the opportunity learn new things and inculcate courage to face challenges. Only then one can lead a successful and happy life,” said the minister.

The minister was also unhappy with the way the youth are responding to the skill development training provided for the youth by the government. He said even though the government had come forward to providing computer skill training to more than 70 students only 23 have appeared for the same.

He said training and experience are very much essential for the candidates to be placed in good companies with good remuneration. As part of this, the government is doing its best to provide training and urged the youth to utilise the opportunities provided by the government and improve their living conditions. EGMM director Madhukar, Nagarkurnool DRDO Project Director Sudharkar and Wanaparthy district DRDO Project Director Ganesh also took part in the Mega Job Mela.
