Jagitial: Negligence in the ongoing works of Mission Bhagiratha project cannot be tolerated and stringent actions would be taken against such officials warned the District Collector A Sharath here on Friday.
The Collector held a review meeting with the concern officials to discuss on the progress of ongoing works of Mission Bhagiratha here at Collectorate Conference hall in Jagitial on Friday.
Speaking in the meeting, the Collector A Sharath said that the Mission Bhagiratha works are taken up investing Rs.1,430 crore in the district out of which Rs 659.93 crore are spent till date.
The Mission Bhagiratha project is taken up for supplying pure drinking water for people living in about 485 habituations across the district through taps. Out of which the works are completed in about 101 habituations. There are about 7.65 lakh of people living in rural areas and about 2.21 lakh of people living in urban areas across the district.
The Collector ordered the officials to complete the Mission Bhagiratha works in Mallpur, Korutla, Kathalapur and Metpalli mandals by end of July and in Jagitial mandal by end of August 5.
The officials must take necessary steps for completing the works within prescribed time limit and the contractors must speed up the works by employing more number of workers. If the contractors are delaying in completion works replace them with others, ordered the Collector.
The officials must inspect and supervise the progress works regularly along with reviewing daily and must show full commitment in completing the works, he said. The Executive Engineer of Rural Water Supply department Karunakar and Additional Engineers of all mandals of the district were present.
