Khammam: The Traffic Police is conducting several unique programmes on traffic rules for creating awareness among the people so that they can reach their homes safe and sound and spend time with their family members happily, said Assistant Commissioner of Police Sada Niranjan here on Friday.

The Traffic police along with 200 students of Excellent Junior College conducted an awareness programme on traffic rules, signal parking, wearing of seat belts and helmets while driving the vehicles here at ten important spots in the Khammam city.

Speaking on the occasion, the ACP said many accidents are taking place due to minor mistakes committed by the motorists such as careless driving, over speed, drunk and driving and not following traffic rules strictly.

To prevent accidents several awareness programmes are organized by the Traffic Police department. The special Traffic awareness drive is carried at important locations in the city such as Mayuri centre, Kinnera Centre, Old LIC Centre, Kaspa Bazaar, Kaman Bazaar, Naya Bazaar, Yellandu Cross Road, NTR statue, Raparthi Nagar, Church Compound and Gandhi Chowk centres, he informed. The students actively participated in the special traffic awareness drive and learnt about the traffic rules along with educating the people, he added.

All the necessary arrangements were made with establishing notice boards about traffic rules at every junction alongside taking special steps for controlling the traffic in the city keeping in view the increase in traffic in recent times in the city, he said.The Traffic Circle Inspector Nageshwara Rao and Chitti Babu were present along with other traffic police officials took part in the drive.
