Hanamkonda (Warangal): Finally, decks have been cleared for the construction of 400-meter eight-lane synthetic track complying fully with the requirements of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JNS) in Hanamkonda.

It may be mentioned here that Centre had issued sanction orders for amount of Rs 7 crore under Khelo India, a scheme aimed at sports development, and informed that, excess amount of Rs 89.56 lakh, the expenditure sanctioned shall be met by the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS).

Against this backdrop, the B Venkatesham, Secretary to Telangana Government, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (Sports) Department, has issued a GO Rt. No. 565 to SATS to take necessary measures for the installation of synthetic track.

K Sarangapani, a senior coach and mentor to Dronacharya awardee Nagapuri Ramesh, who expressed happiness over the development, told The Hans India: “Over the years, our athletes have been finding it difficult to adapt to the synthetic track whenever they participate in the State and national level meets. Finally, we have got one and hopefully the track installation will not be delayed anymore.”
