​Hyderabad: The IVth session of the India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held at Indira Gandhi Prathisthan, Lucknow from October 6 to 8, this year. The Additional Region Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Hyderabad T V K Reddy said the annual Session of IISF has emerged as a major national event. While the first IISF was held at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi in 2015, the latest IISF was held at IIT, Chennai during October 2017.
The current session will be addressed during the inaugural session by President Ram Nath Kovind and the theme for IISF-2018 is,’ Science and Technology: Building Partnerships, Impacting Society", he said.
The science festival was primarily aimed to involve the common citizen with a view to improve their scientific understanding, temperament and appreciation for various Indian achievements in the field of science and technology. Also, it will highlight the government’s commitment to the promotion of science and technology, for the nation’s development and more importantly human welfare.
Reddy said the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences are organising the IISF-2018, which will be coordinated by Department of Biotechnology and Ministry of Science and Technology.
This year, the IISF has a host of important events. They include:
Plenary sessions, Foreign Science and Technology Minister's Conclave, Global Indian Science and Technology Stakeholders' Meet (GIST Meet), North-east Students' Conclave, Youth Scientists' Conference (YSC), Green Good Deeds, Agriculture Conclave, Industry-Academia Meet, Women Scientists' and Entrepreneur Conclave, National Social Organisations and Institutions Meet (NSOIM), and National Science Teachers' Congress.
Besides, there will also be a session on Science and Technology for Harnessing Innovation (SaTHI), Students Science Village, Reaching the unreached, Face to Face with Frontiers in Science, Guinness World Records, Mega Science, Technology and Industry Expo, International Science Literature and Film Festival, Cultural events, Outreach Programme, Students Engineering Models competition, Health Conclave, Nav Bharat Nirman, Various Sectional Sessions etc. Further details are available at https://scienceindiafest.org, he said.
