Chanchalguda: In the light of SC judgement in Aadhaar case, MBT president Majidullah Khan Farhat demanded that the Central Election Commission (CEC) direct the State Election Commission to take up urgent steps to complete the process of Aadhaar seeding with voter EPIC and put to rest the controversies regarding bogus or fake voters.
In a media statement, he stated the ECI which had seeded 33 crore voter EPIC to Aadhaar should resume the process to weed out bogus and fake names from voter list, in the light of Supreme Court verdict on Aadhaar case. “Now that the Supreme Court had decided the Aadhaar case and clearly stated that government can use Aadhaar for welfare, Pan Card, as EC was also a party to the case, it’s very clear for EC to link Aadhaar to voter EPIC seeding for the remaining voters,” he added.
The MBT chief alleged that the EC officials who do not have any mechanism to weed out the bogus cards should consider the seeding of Aadhaar with EPIC as the solution. “Media routinely raises the issue of bogus voters and political parties’ claim that there are more than 50 lakh bogus voters in the State. After many complaints and evidence brought before the State EC, they had turned a Nelson’s eye to the important issue of fake, bogus, multiple, dead, NRI, and non-existing votes enrolled by vested interests and the verification process being undertaken is an eye-wash,” he alleged.
Majidullah Khan claimed that in each of the constituencies like Chandrayanguta, Yakutpura , Malakpet, Charminar, Karwan and Nampally there were 50,000 bogus voters. “The GHMC had totally failed in its exercise of identifying and deleting bogus votes. The only way out to weed bogus votes is by linking Aadhaar to EPIC, if the Election Commission (EC) is not linking Aadhaar to EPIC and going ahead with thousands of bogus voters in its final voter list and hurriedly preparing the voter rolls would be helping some political parties.
And not adhering to the principle of one citizen -one vote, the EC would be failing democracy and helping by design or default the forces which win elections by rigging through bogus votes and turning democracy into mobocracy,” he noted. MBT demanded the EC to urgently declare before finalisation of voter list the linking of Aadhaar to voter EPIC and prove its ‘neutrality’ in preparation of voter rolls and conducting free, fair and unbiased elections in Telangana.
