Hyderabad: Former BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy said that Hyderabad High Court’s verdict on the delay in holding elections to village panchayats in the State was a serious indictment against the State government.
Addressing the media here on Friday, Kishan Reddy said that the HC observed that delay in holding elections was not only unconstitutional, but also undemocratic. Adding further, he said it was not the first time that the State government has come under the hammer of HC which had found fault with its decisions and scrapped government orders.
“Never before any State government was found fault these many times by the courts. This reflects the functioning of the State government in the last four-and-a-half years,” he said. He added that the BJP had time and again pointed out that appointing special officers to run the village administration was against the spirit of the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and in violation of the 73rd amendment of the Constitution.
