Musheerabad: On the eve of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary and former home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, Congress party organised a blood donation camp at Red Cross Blood Bank at Vidyanagar on Wednesday. Congress leaders and others garlanded portraits of the leaders and paid rich tributes to the great leaders. Later, hundreds of students and youth donated blood.

Congress leader K Janaradhan Reddy said several social service programmes were being conducted to mark the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi as per the call given by AICC president Rahul Gandhi. Extolling the former prime minister, he said that she changed the face of the nation with several dynamic reforms during her rule. Comparing her rule with the current one, he lashed out at the Modi government for ignoring the poor and working for rich corporate. He accused the BJP government of saffronising the nation and destroying secularism.

He also accused BJP of destroying every democratic institution and appealed to people to bring back the Congress rule. Janaradhan Reddy said that it was time to make Rahul Gandhi, the inheritor of Indira Gandhi’s legacy, prime minister of India. Praising the role of Vallabhbhai Patel’s role in liberating Telangana from the autocratic rule of Nizam, he said that he was responsible for uniting India. Among those present on the occasion were S Yugandhar Reddy, CH Bhadra, S Venkat, Sunil, Manoj Kumar, Shekhar Naveen, Rajesh Goud and others.
