Uttam’s warning: Modi, KCR will tweak Constitution if re-elected
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP and its secret ally Telangana Rashtra Samithi TRS would change the Constitution of India if they retain power in next elections
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its secret ally Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) would change the Constitution of India if they retain power in next elections.
Addressing a meeting with leaders of Jamiatul Ulema-e-Hind at JUH office in Bagh Amberpet, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that while the Modi government was suppressing the fundamental rights of minorities, Chandrashekar Rao had been acting as ‘BJP's agent and Modi's chamcha.’ “Do not fall for Chandrashekar Rao wearing sherwani, speaking chaste Urdu or hosting Iftar parties. It is all eyewash meant to cheat Muslims,” he cautioned.
In the last 70 years, no one dared to question anyone what they eat, what is kept in their fridge, what they wear or whom they got married to. But what we have seen in the last four-and-a-half years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime causes personal pain and agony. The Congress is totally against it, he said while alleging that minorities were being targeted across the country.
Uttam said that the TRS president made a promise at Shadnagar on April 19, 2014 that he would implement 12 per cent Muslim reservation within four months after coming to power. “He dragged the issue for four years and now he has stopped talking about it. Have you ever found any truth in KCR's talk? KCR's promise on 12 per cent Muslim quota was nothing but a tactic to cheat the community.
TRS never raised the issue at a higher level even once,” he said while adding that the TRS has no mortal right to seek Muslim votes. Furnishing figures of spending on welfare of minorities, he said only Rs 3,000 crore out of Rs 6.75 lakh crore budget of Telangana State were spent during the last four-and-a-half years by the TRS government. He said Muslims constitutes about 13 per cent of the State population and less than half-a-per cent of total budget was spend on their welfare. Uttam promised that the next Congress government would introduce Minorities Sub-Plan which would ensure allocation and spending of budget in proportionate to their population.
Jamaitul Ulema-e-Hind Telangana and AP President Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed said that the JUH had over 6.72 lakh members across Telangana State with its branches in every mandal. He said that JUH was presenting the community's agenda before the political parties while asking them to accept it to seek their support.
The major demands include non-interference in personal laws of all communities, measures to defend 4 per cent Muslim reservation, making public the report of Alair encounter and action against the guilty officials, protection of Wakf properties, challenging verdict of NIA court in Mecca Masjid blast case in a higher court, non-interference in the functioning of Deeni Madarsas and deployment of Muslim teachers in the residential schools being run by the State government. Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society Secretary Zafar Javeed and senior leaders of Congress party were also present.
