Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted a Rangoli competition for students and women at Necklace Road to educate voters to cast their vote in the forthcoming assembly elections.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Electoral Officer (DEO) Dana Kishore said that the training is underway for the Booth Level Officers (BLO) in all the 15 Assembly constituencies for the last three days, and from November 25 onwards all the BLOs, along with the Booth Level Agents, will conduct the meetings, where the volunteers from Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) will also coordinate to distribute voter slips and EPIC cards door-to-door.

The DEO said that EPIC cards are also ready for distribution. A coloured booklet is being distributed to all the 10-lakh families at their doorsteps, he said. The main aim is to increase the polling percentage as per the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), he added. The DEO further said that about 5,000 students would monitor webcasting on the poll day. The GHMC, with the help of Urban Community Development (UCD) wing, under the chairmanship of Harichandana, additional commissioner, organised a Rangoli show, where women, students, differently abled, SHGs and others took part in the competitions.
