Khammam: All the arrangements are made for conducting the Assembly elections in a smooth and peaceful atmosphere, said the District Collector RV Karnan while addressing the media in Khammam on Tuesday.
Karnan said that around 10,85,179 voters are going to utilise their voting right for which elaborate arrangements are made in the district along with distributing the photo voter slips to about 10,21,917 voters.
Special polling centres were established for 27,366 disabled voters in the district. They will be providing with wheel chairs, he added. There are about 10,531 people who are above 80 years of age, 3,625 are pregnant women, and 4,238 lactating women in the district. These voters need not to stand in the queues and can caste their votes by directly going to the polling booths, informed the Collector.
Around 1,305 polling stations are established across the district out of which 329 are identified as high risk areas and provided tight security arrangements. As many as 183 micro observers were deployed for the process and in 420 polling stations, machines are installed for live web-casting for offline recording.
The Collector informed that about Rs 1.97,84,450 were seized at various check posts established in the district along with 23,441.28 litres of liquor and closing of 256 belt shops along with lodging 538 cases and arresting 41 persons.
The election campaigning will end on December 5 at 5 pm in the evening and 144 section will be imposed from December 5 to 7 in the district. The Election Commission of India introduced ‘Naa Vote” mobile app. The voters can find their details through this app by downloading through Google play store, said the Collector.
