Uppal: Uppal constituency is one of the nine constituencies in the state which registered lowest poll percentage of 51.54 but the expectation s from the people as well as the political parties are high. With the recent changes in the political scenario, no one is able to predict who would win. NVSS Prabhakar(BJP), Bethi Subhash Reddy(TRS) and Tulla Veerender Goud (People’s Front) are the main contenders. According to Election Commission of India (ECI) the poll percentage in this election was high compared to 2014 elections. This election saw female voters in a big number. The three nominees however are confident about their electoral victory, as the results going to be announced in a few hours, they are facing tense moments about their poll prospectus. Main leaders of the parties are busy in taking booth wise statistics.

TRS candidate Bethi Subhash Reddy started his poll campaign with early announcement of his candidature by party high-command. He was mainly banking on development programs and welfare schemes introduced under TRS rule. As far as BJP is concerned, NVSS Prabhakar claimed that he contributed more to the development of Uppal compared to his predecessor, including HUDCO funds in crores, Uppal elevated corridor. Prabhakar exuded confidence on his poll victory. Heavily banking on his father and former minister Tulla Devender Goud’s legacy, Veerender Goud along with family members organised door to door campaign and interacted with people in colonies. His approach was limited to campaign the development took place in TDP rule.

The constituency was formed in 2009. Bandari Raji Reddy from Congress won the constituency in the same year. He defeated his nearest TRS contestant M Yadagiri Reddy with a margin of 28,183 votes. Raji Reddy polled 57,874 whereas M Yadagiri Reddy got 29,691 votes. Total votes polled were 1,53,500.
In 2014, NVSS Prabhakar (BJP) defeated his nearest TRS candidate Bethi Subhash Reddy with a margin of 14,169 votes. Prabhakar polled 82,395 whereas Subhash Reddy got 68,226 votes. Total votes polled were 2,26,964.
