Bahadurpura: The students and the faculty of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) took an active part in the Swachh Bharat programme, organised by IHM, in coordination with the authorities of Nehru Zoological Park, on Thursday.

The faculties of the Institute of Hotel Management, Meenakshi and Suresh, along with 57 students, participated in the Swachh Bharat programme in the afternoon hours held on the premises of the Nehru Zoological Park. The programme was inaugurated by Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, assistant conservator of forests at Nehru Zoological Park. A skit was performed on the hazards of using plastics. Paper bags were distributed to the visitors with a message, ‘Stop Plastic Use,’ and students took part in the cleaning programme, as a part of Swachh Bharat Mission.

Speaking on the occasion, Maqsood said that people became sensitive on the usage of plastic because of the hazards it causes to environment. “More and more people are getting aware about keeping their premises clean. The zoo is a heavily-visited area where a lot of garbage like paper plates, plastic glasses, water bottles and the leftover food is thrown in the lawns. With the programme, the visitors learned use dustbins in the zoo to keep the premises clean,” he added.
