Secunderabad: South Central Railway Engineers Association (SCREA) staged protest against Railway Board and Trade Unions in front of Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Thursday. They demanded Group B gazetted status to senior section engineers and Group B status to junior engineers. They also demanded the Central government to fill the vacant posts. They said about 80 thousand engineers all over the country were observing black day.
A senior section engineer who is to retire on December 31 said that he got only one promotion throughout his 32-year career. Another employee said about four thousand of them were rendering their services like slaves. We require social status. But, the trade unions are hindering our Gez status. The agitators took out a rally from Hyderabad Bhavan to Rail Nilayam.
