Khammam: The sudden rains that lashed the Khammam district on Thursday night have pushed the chilli farmers into grief as their produce that was left to dry was drenched due to rain. With this, the chilli farmers have suffered huge losses.

The chilli crop of farmers of Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Sathupalli, Kalluru, Wyra, Madhira, Kusumanchi, Errupalem, Yellandu, Mudhigonda, Pinapaka, Enkuru and Aswaraopeta were severely hit due to sudden rains.

The distressed farmers who said have invested over Rs 70,000 per acre have urged the State government to come to their rescue and buy the crop at the Minimum Support Value.
