Huge crowd turns up at ‘Samaikyandhra Sagara Jana Gala Ghosha’
Visakhapatnam: There seems to be no respite in the fight for a united State even after the 46th day of the struggle. The impact is so high that virtually everything came to a standstill. People are put to a lot of hardship as registration of vehicles, properties, work related to commercial taxes, court cases and municipal work came to a grinding halt. Leaders of all Joint Action Committees (JACs) conducted huge rallies, relay hunger camps, formed human chains, organised rasta rokos, took out bike rallies and organised ‘Vanta-Varpu’. NGOs, medical employees, teachers, municipal employees and staff of all private organisations took part in the Samaikyandhra stir.
Meanwhile, the ‘Samaikyandhra Sagara Jana Gala Ghosha’ organised by the Samaikyandhra Adhikarula Upadhyula Udyogula Karmika Karshaka Porata Vedika was a huge success with thousands of people participating from all walks of life. The response was spontaneous. The Beach Road right from The Park Hotel to RK Beach was jam-packed with people. Students were seen in attires of Telugu Talli, Potti Sreeramulu, Sri Krishna Devaraya and Alluri Seetaramaraju. The highlight of the huge rally was the carrying of a massive National Flag by school students. The flag was vertically carried alongside the participants of the rally giving a festive look. YSRCP cadres, represented by their leaders from 32, 33, 34 Wards, participated in a relay hunger strike at the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Gandhi statue. Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, Ravi Raju, K Ravi Babu, Usha Kiran Pakki Divakarj and others participated.
Police arrested AU Student JAC leaders who were on their way to the residence of Union Minister Kishore Chandra Deo. They came down heavily on the managements of corporate colleges and warned them of intensifying their agitation if they did not participate in the Samaikyandhra agitation. The students held demonstrations before private corporate engineering colleges and asked the managements to close them. They gave a call for 48-hour educational institutions bandh.
