Mahabubabad: Joint Collector K Damoder Reddy has called upon the teachers to make efforts in moulding young minds to appreciate the importance of science and to create more vibrant classrooms.

He said there was a need to sensitise teachers, especially at the ‘foundation’ level and empower them with abilities to bring about the required changes. He addressed a gathering of teachers at a workshop on ‘Hands on experiments for teaching physical science' organised by Forum of Physical Science Teachers (FPST) at Pragati High School at Mahabubabad on Monday.

The workshop for teachers, aims at making science teaching interesting and understandable and to fill the existing gaps to reach the objective. It was focused to train teachers on helping students gain vital initial learning in the subject, said the FPST president V Gurunadha Rao.

The goal of the workshop was to provide motivation, encouragement, a variety of models, and support for high school physical science teachers who want to explore the ways to teach science, he added.

A mechanical engineer and workshop resource person S Bhanuprakash said the workshop was designed to meet the practical needs of the teachers who wish to make physical science more exciting, stimulating and meaningful.

Nearly 40 teachers have had the hands on experience of using experiments in improving the physics teaching skills. They were empowered on the use of physical science lab for upgrading their skills and help students learn better.

Some of the modern ideas about inheritance based on the Class 9th and 10th science text books were discussed at the workshop. The FPST office bearers Mary B Appa Rao PJ Vivekananda and others were present.
