Hanamkonda: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Warangal chapter has set a record of sorts by collecting highest volume of blood in a single day in a single blood donation programme. At a blood donation programme organised by the IRCS in association with MGM Blood Bank, IRCS Mancherial and IRCS Jangaon, a total of 1029 units of blood is collected.

The mega blood donation camp is organised marking birth day celebrations of Parkal MLA Ch Dharma Reddy in Hanamkonda on Friday.

The IRCS Warangal chapter managing committee member EV Srinivasa Rao, who coordinated the blood donation camp, told The Hans India that the blood donated by 1029 persons in just eight hours. ‘It is the first instance in Telangana wherein such a quantity of blood is collected’.

Recently at Mahabubnagar, about 700 units blood has been collected in a day, he added while thanking all the blood donors and the doctors who took part in the camp. Their contribution to the cause is very valuable in saving the lives of those in need of blood transfusion, he added.

The IRCS treasurer M Nagaiah, managing committee member B Papireddy, doctors S Ramkishan, G Prabhakar Rao, Bhupesh, Ram Narsaiah, K Poli Reddy and the IRCS blood bank staff took part in the camp inaugurated by the MLA Dharma Reddy.
