Warangal: The State government on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 78 crore for construction of a road over bridge (RoB) to connect Kazipet with Hanamkonda, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said.

The Deputy CM said the existing RoB will remain operational in addition to the proposed second one and ease traffic congestion on the route. The Roads and Buildings department has already issued an order sanctioning necessary funds in this regard.

He said on his request, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao sanctioned the funds. The ROB facility was the long-time dream of the people and he thanked the Chief Minister for releasing funds.

Srihari instructed the officials to take up the works immediately. He said the proposal for construction of the second RoB has been pending for a long time and with increasing vehicular traffic, the existing RoB has become a bottle neck for vehicularists. In case of any repairs to the existing RoB or traffic jams, motorists had no alternate and demand for a parallel RoB was on the rise.

The Deputy CM Srihari intervened and took up the issue with the railway authorities. Though they have agreed to sanction permission for second RoB, the railway officials made it clear that they cannot sanction funds for the project as per rules which prohibit funding in the presence of existing RoB. Learning about the troubles, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao cleared the proposals and directed the officials to fund the project on behalf of the State government.
