GWMC launches Aadhaar linked attendance system for civic workers
The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) Mayor N Narender on Tuesday launched Aadhaar-linked attendance system for sanitation workers. He also inaugurated a mega free medical camp organised by the corporation for the benefit of sanitation workers on the day. Nearly 3,000 workers have undergone medical tests at the camp. About 60 doctors from Indian Medical Association and 50 doctors from Samraksha Hospital offered their services.
26 counters were set up where 600 paramedical staff along with the doctors diagnosed the workers. MP P Dayakar, MLAs D Vinay Bhasker, Dr T Rajaiah and A Ramesh, Deputy Mayor Khaja Sirajduddin, District Collector Amrapali Kata and Municipal Commissioner Shruti Ojha attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said the State government, especially the Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, was committed for the welfare of the municipal workers. As part of such commitment, the medical camp was organised.
MLAs Vinay Bhakser and Ramesh and Collector Amarapali appreciated the Mayor and the Commissioner for organising the free medical camp. The Commissioner, Ojha informed that expert doctors were engaged in checking the health condition of the workers.
She thanked the District Druggist and Chemist Association for supplying Rs 10 lakhs medicines free of cost. Referring to the Aadhaar-linked attendance system, Mayor Narender said it was aimed to ensure timely credit of the salaries of 3,106 GWMC sanitation workers directly into their bank accounts without the involvement of contractors.
DMHO Dr B Harishraj, IMA president Dr M Sudeep, its secretary Surender Reddy, Samraksha Hospital doctor P Nataraj, and others were present.
