motherWarangal: In a grim pointer to growing deterioration of human relations, a mother and a father were done to death by their own sons in the district in the wee hours of Saturday.A An old woman identified as Bhandari Suguna (65) was beaten to death by her son Suraiah at Budavarapupeta in Khanapuram mandal in the early hours of Saturday. In the second incident that took place at Kamalapur village in Mangapet mandal, Bojja Ravi (45) was killed by his two sons who were in an inebriated condition late on Friday night. Both the shocking incidents have created a wave of revulsion and the society was aghast at the brutal killings of the two parents. Suriah, a tractor driver, lives at a rented house at a distance from his parents' residence in Budavarapupeta. He has been quarrelling with his parents for sometime over performing puja to the family deity 'Uppalamma' at their house. Suguna and Bikshamaiah, who embraced Christianity a year ago, have stopped worshipping the deity and objected to their son conducting any puja at their house. Thereupon, Suraiah contacted the village elders a week ago who held a meeting but no solution was found. On Friday, Suraiah went to their house to collect firewood for conducting a puja. His mother not only prevented him but also later lodged a complaint against him with police.

Suraiah learnt about the compliant late on Friday night and went to his parents in the wee hours of Saturday and started beating up his mother with a stick and a rod. His father who tried to stop him was also thrashed by him. Suguna died, while a grievously injured Bikshamaiah (70) was rushed to a government hospital at Narsampet, where he lapsed into coma. Khanapuram SI Naresh apprehended the accused in the noon hours at Narsampet bus stand, while he was trying to escape. DSP KGV Saritha produced the accused before media. In the Kamalapur village incident, Bojja Ravi's two sons Rajasekhar (23) and Rana Pratap (21) were addicted to drinking. On Friday night Rajasekhar had a quarrel with his wife Laxmi and beat her up. When Ravi tried to interfere and stop his son Rajesekhar, the latter attacked his father. Pratap also joined his brother to thrash their father who died on the spot. The brothers tried to escape but were nabbed by the police near the bus station in Kamalapur. The accused claimed that it was their father who used to get drunk and harass them. They said they attacked in a fit of rage, and he died accidentally.
