Warangal: Kakatiya University Sports Board (KUSB) had approved a budget of Rs 99.96 lakh for the academic year 2013-14. In a meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof B Venkat Rathnam at committee hall in KU at Hanamkonda on Wednesday, various issues of development came up for discussion.
The allocation for various activities is as follows: Rs 24.86 lakh for sports teams, Rs 16 lakhs for conduct of inter-university tournaments, Rs 2.5 lakh inter-collegiate tournaments, Rs 1 lakh for the incentives and encouragement of sportspersons, Rs 3.5 lakh for the renovation of sports grounds and the rest as per the allocations.
Speaking on the occasion, VC Venkat Rathnam said that all the steps would be taken to promote the sports in a big-way in the University. KU is slated to hold the central zone inter-university tournaments in cricket, handball and kabaddi very soon. KUSB secretary Prof B Digambar Rao revealed that at least 30 KU teams would take part. Registrar Prof K Sayulu, KU professors Bhavani Prasad, Ramnath Kishan, Ranga Rao, Sammulal, Yadagiri Rao, D Rajendra Prasad, Damodar, Ravinder Reddy, Srinivas Reddy, Girisham, P Ramesh Reddy and KU finance officer Ramesh Kumar attended the meet.
