aw2 Eluru (West Godavari): The Social Welfare Department has organised an awareness programme for students of welfare hostels in West Godavari district, who are appearing for 10th board exam, at the local St Joseph Dental College on Wednesday. Collector Dr G Vani Mohan garlanded Dr BR Ambedkar portrait and later took part in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, she told the students that hard work with proper planning would result in success.A "By being happy and having a positive outlook in life will result in success. One should develop competitive spirit within. A simple smile can avoid many troubles," she advised the students. She asked the students to utilise the scholarships properly and study well for the examinations. Under 'Abhilasha' programme, solar heaters were provided in 15 hostels and solar lights in all the hostels. Water purifiers and mosquito nets were also given to hostels, she said. St Joseph Dental College correspondent Dr Bala lauded the Collector for her efforts in the development of welfare hostels. He praised her for taking up the initiative of engaging psychologists and academic experts for proper guidance and motivation to the students. "There are no short cuts to success and only hard work pays," he said. Noted psychologist and HRD trainer Dr BV Pattabhiram advised the students to develop a passion towards learning than blindly working hard. "One shouldn't get much tensed and should study with a positive approach. Studying early in the morning would be productive as the mind will be fresh at that time," he said.
