The country’s leading spices and condiments manufacturer, Eastern condiments, on the occasion of women’s day, in the present of an august audience, honoured a host of eminent woman. Speaking on the genesis of Bhoomika Eastern awards, Firoz Meeran, MD, Eastern condiments said, “The Eastern brand is a popular household name in the country, and most of our customers, primarily women, know the brand so well.
When we thought of our way of giving back to the society, the objective was to recognise some of the ordinary women, who may not have entered the mainstream of public life, but have done some of the best possible changes over the years, quietly, behind all the limelight”.“What we have done is just to turn the limelight on to such wonderful women, who are toiling and doing their best for social causes, for all these years”, he added.
The Bhoomika awards have been in vogue for five years, and to make sure that women from across the country are brought in to the limelight and given recognition; these awards are given in major six cities across the country (Kerala, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Varanasi). The aim of the campaign is to identify and honour ordinary women, who might not have entered the mainstream of public life, but might have been a positive influence on the society or an individual.
