Future of Urdu is bright with science education: experts

"Science is the heritage of Human beings. It is necessary to make science accessible in order to understand it. No language should be a hindrance in the acquisition of knowledge. Urdu is a sweet and melodius language. It is a language which is largely spoken and understood. It is imperative that we should make use of all the resources for popularizing science through Urdu".

The experts expressed the above thoughts in the national level 3-day workshop held at Maulana Azad National Urdu University Hyderabad by the Department of Translation in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi, a subsidiary of the Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India at the Auditorium of Central Library of Urdu University. The Topic of the workshop was "Popularisation of Science in Urdu through Print Media".

Dr. T Venkateshwaran, Registrar, Vigyan Prasar, said that his organization has plans to develop materials on popular Science in all the languages including Urdu. The institution is working on it. The objective of Vigyan Prasar is to popularise Science by writing textbooks and easy articles on popular Science subjects in Urdu and other languages.

Renowned Scientist and the first Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azat National Urdu University, Prof. Shamim Jairajpuri, speaking on the future of Urdu with reference to Science said that language develops only when there is a need. A large number of staff and students attended the programme.
