Famously tagged as the 'God on the off side' & 'Dada', Sourav Ganguly, in his ODI career with a total span of 311 matches has an average of 41 with 22 centuries to his name. Ganguly had featured in three world cup tournaments for India from 1999 to 2007, captaining the side in the 2003 edition.

In the history of World cup, he holds a unique record of involving in three 200+ partnerships. In 1999 World Cup, his first and highest partnership of 318 runs came alongside Rahul Dravid. The second record of 244 runs against Namibia in 2003 world cup was alongside Sachin Tendulkar. The third partnership of 202 runs alongside Virender Sehwag came against Bermuda in 2007 edition.

Nearly 50% of the records are held by the Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar in the ODI cricket. He debuted for the national side at a very young age of 16 years. He has been featured in the world cups for India six times. Playing for India from a very young age also put him into the World Cup squad of the team during 1992 world cup.

In the World cup, he has been the only cricketer to have won two Man of the Match awards before the age of 20.
