Nizamabad: If women are economically empowered, then their families will be developed, then the district and the State, stated Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Minister of Transport, Roads and Buildings and Legislative Affairs. He distributed Stree Nidhi cheques at Bheemgal town on Thursday.

Later speaking on the occasion, the Minister said if a woman earns even a single rupee, she will spend it for the family. But the men will spend not even half of their earned amount for the family. After observing this, the State government is encouraging women to earn by providing financial subsidy, he said.

The Minister said as many as 2,006 women have formed into unions in Bheemgal municipality and of these, only 420 have received loan assistance. He directed the officials to provide loans to 400 women through Srinidhi next year and if necessary, provide training to women in various occupations and provide adequate credit.

"We aim to provide loans worth Rs 195 lakhs in the current financial year. Of this, Rs 45 lakhs have already distributed to 122 women. The remaining Rs 150 lakhs will be given to 300 women as loan," Reddy explained. He said that there is no limit on Srinidhi's credit and suggested the women,who took loans, to use invest it in manufacturing sector.

The State government had updated Bheemgal as a municipality from gram panchayat and will provide the necessary infrastructure for the people. Prashant Reddy said Rs 25 crores has been sanctioned to take up various developmental works. Proposals have been prepared to undertake roads, internal roads and drainage works at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crores, he added.

The Minister said that Rs 4 crores has been spent on road development in the past and Rs 1 crore will be spent for the construction of Kalyana Mandapam and for the development of four cemeteries in the town.From Rs 25 crores, Rs 19 crores will be spent on for various activities, the Minister said.

The programme was attended by Armor RDO Municipal Special Officer Srinivas, Commissioner Gangadhar, ZPTC Ravi, MPP Mahesh Goud, ZP Cooperation Member MA Moise, Stree Nidhi Bank Regional Manager Srinivas, Stree Nidhi Sangam president Lakshmi and others.
