Three Maoist couriers were arrested by Palvoncha and Burgampahad police and a large quantity of explosive material and anti-government pamphlets were seized from their possession.

Kothagudem: Three Maoist couriers were arrested by Palvoncha and Burgampahad police and a large quantity of explosive material and anti-government pamphlets were seized from their possession.

The arrested were identified as Maruti Lingaiah of Tekulacheruvu village, Madvi Edamaiah of Rajiv Nagar in Burgampahad mandal and Madali Eramaiah of Mamillavai village of Aswapuram mandal in the district.

According to police, they were found moving suspiciously at Tekulacheruvu village during police patrolling and were taken into custody. During interrogation, they revealed their identity.

Lingaiah was said to be working as courier to Maoist leader Azad and has been supplying material to Maoists for the last few years. In March 2018, he procured walkie talkies, cell phones, power banks, SIM cards and explosive material at Vijayawada in AP for Azad.

Following the directions from Azad, Lingaiah and others have put up posters on March 25 at Aswapuram, Palvoncha, Burgampahad and Mulkalapally mandals calling public to boycott Parliament elections. The couriers were sent to judicial remand, the police said.
