Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy visited some of the flood-affected villages of Mungaman Dinne, Pechikalapadu, Rangapur and Beechupally along the banks of Krishna river on Monday and supervised the relief and rehabilitation works being provided to the affected.

The Minister directed the Revenue, Police and Irrigation officials to constantly monitor the floods in Krishna river and accordingly, take immediate measures to ensure that people from the inundated villages were rescued and at the same time, basic amenities like drinking water, food and temporary tents were provided.

"With heavy inflows from Jurala project, the low-lying areas of some of the villages in Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool district have been submerged. We have directed all the mandal Tahsildars to be alert and taken necessary measures so that no untoward incident occurs. Accordingly, the officials are monitoring the situation regularly and shifting the affected to safer areas. Basic facilities like medicines, drinking water and food is also being provided to the affected," informed Sinigreddy Niranjan Reddy.

Later, the Minister visited Wanaparthy mosque and took part in the Bakrid festival and greeted the Muslims on the occasion. He said this season, there was enough water available and if everything goes as planned, he hoped the Kharif season would get good agriculture yields and the people in the district would get good livelihood within their own villages and earn handful and lead a happy life without the need to migrate to other places for work.
