Hyderabad: Union Home Minister and BJP chief Amit Shah's visit to the State has been cancelled. Amit Shah was to take part in the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations on September 17.

Addressing media here on Friday, party general secretary G Premender Reddy and Telangana Vimochana Committee chairman N Srivardhan Reddy said the party chief is not attending as expected earlier.

However, a Union Minister will be addressing the public meeting scheduled to be held at Patancheru on September 17, they said.

That apart, the party has decided to hoist tricolour in every polling booth across the State by 9 am. This will be followed with taking out Tiranga Yatra rallies in the mandal, municipal and district headquarters, he said.

Premender Reddy said that the party has been conducting public meetings to pay tributes to those who laid down their lives for the integration of Hyderabad into Indian Union.

He demanded that the State government conduct the Telangana Liberation Day officially instead of playing appeasement politics with the sole objective of remaining in power.

He said that the BJP will continue to fight for due respect to the freedom fighters of Telangana and their history to be included as lessons into the textbooks.

That apart, prominent place during the Telangana liberation movement should be identified and developed as memorials. Srivardhan Reddy said that the party will be submitting a memorandum to the Governor to impress upon the State gover

nment to conduct the Telangana Liberation Day officially. He said party State leaders, MLAs, MPs will visit Biranpalli, Nizamabad, Appampalli, Komaram Bheem, Nirmal and Yerrupalem in Khamma district to pay tributes to the freedom fighters of Telangana.
