Armoor: Members of various women associations staged rasta roko on national highway 63 near Armoor on Friday, demanding suspension of Station House Officer (SHO) Raghavendra for threatening a victim, who came to police station seeking justice.

The women associations members said that Govardhan of Armoor town and Mamata of Nallavelli village of Indalwai mandal were in love for seven years and there were conflicts between them since Govardhan was allegedly cheating the girl.

In this backdrop, Govardhan sought the help of the SHO, who called Mamata to come to Armoor police station on Thursday, to settle the matter. Mamata went along with members of women organisations while Govardhan came with local councillor Ganga Mohan.

The women alleged that Raghavendra, who called the victim for talks, had insulted her with obscene language. And councillor Ganga Mohan abused the victim and the leaders of women groups in front of the SHO and the police remained silent spectators, the women criticised.

Protesting the rude behaviour of the SHO and the councillor, member of women associations blocked the national highway 63 on Friday, protesting the SHO for abusing and threatening Mamata and members of women associations. They demanded departmental action against Armoor SHO Raghavendra for his rude behaviour towards a victim girl.
